Thousands of People to Wear Sneakers to Work on Friday June, 19th to Celebrate Back on My Feet’s 2nd Birthday
Location of BOMF’s Third Chapter to Be Announced

June 16th - Back on My Feet, the nonprofit that uses running to promote the self-sufficiency of the homeless population in Philadelphia and Baltimore, is getting ready to kick-off their annual two-week birthday campaign on Friday, June 19th. This year, more than 60 companies totaling more than 12,000 employees will join in the celebration by participating in Back on My Feet’s “Wear Your Sneakers to Work” Day. BOMF staff, volunteers and members will be tabling in the lobby of 2001 Market Street where well-known guests are scheduled to drop by.

“We wanted to come up with a way to involve our corporate partners in our birthday celebration in a way that was sensitive to the unstable economy,” said Anne Mahlum, BOMF Founder and President. “Sneaker Day allows for a lot of people to give a little as the cost for employees to wear Sneakers for $5.”

Companies such as Accenture, The Beneficial Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Pepper Hamilton and Blank Rome are among the few that will be participating. A complete list can be seen here.

“Accenture is proud to be a part of Back on My Feet’s Sneaker Day. The mission of the organization fits well within our company’s “Live Well at Accenture” initiative that promotes and encourages a healthy lifestyle, said Larry Solomon, Chief Operating Officer of Accenture’s Public Service Group, who also sits on the Board of Back of My Feet. “Our employees are really excited about being involved with this great organization that is truly helping people move their lives forward.”

Also that day, Anne Mahlum, Founder and President will make a live announcement on Back on My Feet’s new website, which will launch on Thursday, about the location of BOMF’s third city that will officially be up and running in March 2010.
